Attractions near Ben Bheula

  • There are many attractions on offer in this part of Scotland.

  • Walking and hiking is available at all levels from walking by lochs and burns through wooded glens to hiking the Munro’s and Corbett’s, especially the world famous Ben Arthur (The Cobbler).

  • Access to these hills and walks starts from the door at Ben Bheula with the footpath starting right next to the house.

  • Your host is an MTB trained walking group leader and is readily available to help you plan your routes and provide maps and information for all your walking requirements.

  • Mountain biking routes are available, again, from the door, with way marked routes on forest tracks.

  • There are many picturesque towns and villages in the area such as Inveraray, with its fairytale castle and the nearby renowned Oyster Bar at Loch Fyne. Towards Dunoon the botanical gardens at Benmore offer many rare species of trees and shrubs, including giant redwoods!

  • There is wildlife in abundance (we sometimes see deer from the house) with sea birds on the Loch and many others inhabiting the forest this is a birdwatchers paradise. (We saw red squirrels recently)!

The Rest And Be Thankful and Glen Croe, ArrocharArrochar Easy Trails

These are short, medium and long walks on easy paths and trails. Such as a walk from Rest & Be Thankful on forest tracks to Arrochar or walking from Arrochar to Ardgarten, check out the visitor centre and select one of the many trails through picturesque highland woodland. 
 

Note: the easy trails do have some inclines!

 

Loch Long, ArrocharArrochar Hills

There are a number of hill walks in the area that provide half and full days excursions. Most popular is The Cobbler with it’s jagged peaks is a beacon for walkers. Our base is right next to the path leading to The Cobbler and other hills. There are 7 Corbetts within the immediate area some of which are accessible from our house.

Corbetts – A hill between 2500 and 2999 feet. (762 – 914 m) In this area:

The Cobbler (Ben Arthur), Beinn Bheula, Ben Donich, The Brack, Beinn Luibhean, Beinn an Lochain, Binnein an Fhidhleir. Plus other hills such as A’ Chrois, Ben Reoch & Cnoc Coinnich to name just a few.

There are 4 Munro’s (mountains over 3000 ft (914m) in the immediate area with 1 across Loch Lomond which makes a memorable day out by taking the ferry to start and finish the day.

Munro’s in the area are: 
Ben Narnain – 926m 
Ben Ime  - 1011m 
Ben Vane – 915m 
Ben Vorlich – 943m 
And across Loch Lomond – Ben Lomond – 974m
